We have an outdoor light in our front yard. It is the kind that is on a post with a glass fixture around it.

We just put a new bulb in it 3 weeks ago. We used the CFL type of bulb (I think that’s what the swirly ones are called.) We turned the light on twice and the bulb is no longer working.

Do we need a different type of bulb or does the light need replace or rewired?

One Response to “What type of bulb should I use?”

This could be a couple of things. There could be water getting inside the light fixture and shorting it out. It also could be that the fixture is not compatible with they type of light bulb you installed. You may need a metal halide or mercury vapor type of light.

I haven’t had much luck with those types of bulbs in my pole light. When the weather turns cold they are very dim. They are supposed to last for years, etc, but they don’t. I just use a regular incandescent type of bulb and still have to change it but not as often.
